EL VOLCÁN POPOCATEPTL INCREMENTA ACTIVIDAD

A pesar de la explosión registrada el día domingo, las autoridades aseguran que Don Goyo está “en calma”.

Después de un sobrevuelo de reconocimiento que realizaron especialistas, se decidió mantener el nivel de alerta volcánica en Amarillo Fase 3. Al parecer se comprobó la presencia de un domo de lava de casi 350 metros de diámetro y unos 50 metros de espesor que sufrió una ligera deflación, lo cual, insistió, “puede representar el inicio de su destrucción”.

Existen tres escenarios para iniciar la evacuación en las poblaciones de Santiago Xalitzintla, San Nicolás de los Ranchos y San Pedro Benito Juárez; en estas zonas se mantiene la restricción para acercarse al cráter en un radio de 12 kilómetros.

El primero sería que se incrementen los tremores del coloso; el número dos, que al mezclarse la ceniza con agua se convierta en lodo, y en tercer lugar, que haya una nueva erupción y arroje material incandescente más allá de tres kilómetros, detalló.

Si hubiera una erupción, esas tres comunidades serían las más dañadas porque “es la zona donde podrían emanar los fragmentos incandescentes y, en su caso, podría ser la lava que hasta el momento no ha sido el caso”.

Sin embargo, no se elevó la alerta a la fase roja porque la zona restringida tiene un radio de 12 kilómetros. “El volcán hasta este momento no ha tenido ninguna actividad después de la explosión, está en absoluta calma y así lo vigilamos minuto a minuto”, afirmó.

Recomendaciones.

-No se deje llevar por el pánico. Mantenga la calma.

-Prepare un kit  kit de emergencia que incluya gafas de seguridad, una mascarilla, una linterna, ropa de abrigo, documentación y medicamentos personales, alimentos no perecederos para tres días, una radio de transistores y una linterna, limitando el equipaje a lo que pueda transportar a mano cada persona con facilidad de movimientos.

-Aunque la erupción se desarrolle, no se acerque al volcán. El viento puede arrastrar escorias calientes y existe la posibilidad de que se arrojen súbitamente productos sólidos.

-Si es sorprendido por una nube de gases, protéjase con una tela humedecida en agua o, mejor, en una débil solución de vinagre.

-Elabore una ruta de evacuación y tenga el depósito de gasolina del coche siempre lleno.

-Evacue siguiendo las recomendaciones de las autoridades para no encontrar lava y barro, así como rocas y escombros que puede arrojar el volcán.

-Evite zonas de ríos y regiones bajas.

-No preste atención a rumores alarmistas ni los difunda.
