A través del mito griego de Deméter y su hija Perséfone raptada por Hades, dios del inframundo, la obra de teatro virtual Las diosas subterráneas narra una historia de madres que buscan a sus hijas desaparecidas y que encuentran, en la fuerza de la colectividad, la razón para seguir adelante.
Deméter, la diosa griega del ciclo agrícola, es en la puesta en escena, ideada y dirigida por la mexicana Rocío Carrillo, un arquetipo de las madres despojadas de sus hijas.
En esta creación colectiva de Organización Secreta Teatro, la narración del mito confluye con el caso de Luz, una joven desaparecida por la trata de personas que es buscada incansablemente por sus padres, Marina y Mateo, en las fosas clandestinas de un lugar que puede ser México, donde entre el 1 de diciembre de 2018 y el 31 de diciembre de 2019 desaparecieron 1 227 mujeres, según el Registro Nacional de Personas Desaparecidas y no Localizadas.
Deméter se suma a la búsqueda con la esperanza de dar con el paradero de Perséfone. Otros dioses y diosas son convidados al periplo de Deméter: Hécate, diosa de las encrucijadas, la hechicera Circe, Baubo, Dionisos y las bacantes. Todos ellos simbolizan las fuerzas internas que mueven a las madres de esta historia a incendiar la tierra y dejarla yerma hasta que sus hijas sean devueltas.
En su versión digital, esta obra se transmitirá gratuitamente hasta finales de 2020, a través del Facebook @fanteatrounam y del canal de Youtube de Teatro/UNAM y ofrece la ventaja de que puede ser vista a cualquier hora.
