«El eterno retorno», Novela escrita en lengua mazahua recibe Premio

Francisco Antonio León Cuervo, ganador del VI Premio de Literaturas Indígenas de América. El autor en lengua mazahua participó con la novela El eterno retorno.

Por “ser una novela breve que relata de manera divertida sucesos trágicos contemporáneos, a través de un cuento clásico que se actualiza”, un jurado integrado por Mardonio Carballo, Luz María Lepe Lira y Tadeo Zarratea decidió otorgar el sexto Premio de Literaturas Indígenas de América (PLIA) a Francisco Antonio León Cuervo, por su novela El eterno retorno, escrito en lengua mazahua y que se presentó bajo el seudónimo de “Indecente”.

En conferencia de prensa, Gabriel Pacheco Salvador, presidente de la Comisión Interinstitucional del PLIA, comentó que “la escritura en lengua mazahua, que siendo una de la menos extendidas y con menor tradición literaria escrita, haya producido una obra de tan alto nivel que puede parangonarse con cualquier obra de la literatura universal”. También destacó la importancia que tiene el premio, ya que, pese a que sólo se recibieron diez candidaturas en esta edición, “el interés de participación se ha extendido incluso a Estados Unidos”.

Con la intención de seguir incentivando la producción literaria de todos los autores en lenguas indígenas de América, el jurado decidió otorgar menciones honoríficas. Con el seudónimo “Nisaluna”, la obra Espina de la tierra, escrita en lengua zapoteca de istmo, recibió la primera mención honorífica. Asimismo, El canto de la serpiente, de “Ketsalkoatl”, escrito en lengua náhuatl, recibió la segunda mención honorífica “por la gran investigación y reescritura de cuentos de la tradición oral nahua”, reza el acta del jurado. La tercera mención fue para “Dzunúncan” por la obra Tranca vieja, escrita en lengua maya.

La entrega del premio se realizará el próximo 1 de diciembre en la FIL Guadalajara
